Position Summary
The Cost Analyst role will support the manufacturing group and JHMT while reporting to the Divisional Cost Manager. The incumbent will be responsible for providing in depth analysis through collecting, analyzing and control of plant related company costs. From an analytical perspective, success in this role will be determined by the ability to use historical trends and cost methodologies to identify, communicate and help implement data driven recommendations to improve business performance. In practice this means the Cost Analyst will have the analytical and abstract reasoning skills to synthesize complex and detailed data and information into meaningful insights.
Position Responsibilities
Support month end closing and ad-hoc reporting and analysis to drive the business: (60%)
- Review plant entries and analyze monthly variances
- Assist plants in bridging periods, breaking out mix, price, usage and performance
- Support leadership with analysis and modelling as needed to support target achievements.
- Maintain periodic (daily, weekly, etc.,) reports of key cost drivers and operating metrics (performance, CPGH, etc.), identifying emerging risks, challenges and opportunities.
- Proactively partner with the GL group to help bridge the COGM to COGS results.
- Assist with digging into cost variances to ensure business meets cost objectives.
Develop and maintain cost models for business analysis: (15%)
- Develop and analyze cost models, such as:
o Product Deep Dives
o Specific Plant Deep Dives
o Network Efficency Deep Dives
- Design, develop and maintain complex models to capture total financial impact of projects.
- Manage relationships with other business functions to implement changes and drive projects.
Support the forecasting and budgeting planning and analysis for the manufacturing network: (25%)
- Collaborate with the plants to prepare weekly manufacturing forecast.
- Prepare quarterly forecasts based on district demand using historical trends and plant data
- Work with plant and manufacturing leadership to prepare annual budget for future fiscal years
- Develop and upload into SAP new fiscal year standards based on annual budget proposal

- Uses narratives, like stories and analogies, to communicate messages.
- Presents compelling arguments to support positions.
- Constructively challenges business partner assumptions and goals.
- Demonstrated advanced word processing, spreadsheet, and database application skills.
- Results-oriented to ensure deliverables are submitted in an accurate, complete, and timely fashion.
- The desire and tenacity to grow within the organization.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (MBA/CMA preferred).
- 4+ years of applicable analytical experience
- 2+ years of cost accounting experience
- ERP experience (preferably SAP)
- Building, manufacturing or industrial sector experience (preferred).
